Controls Engineer – Atlanta, GA

Our client is the North American division of a European company that provides automation solutions for industries such as medical device, automotive, material handling and more. The parent company has several subsidiary companies that design and build automated equipment and you will provide service, commissioning, assembly, installation, testing, analyzing, maintenance, repair and training of their equipment at customer sites.
This position may require you to maintain a flexible schedule allowing for travel on short notice, with travel being approx. 75%
Essential Functions: 

  • Provide PLC programming, debug, modification, startups, maintenance and installations of automated equipment at the customer site.
  • Maintain proficiency in control software and machinery equipped with PLC’s through vendor training and interaction with engineering personnel.


  • Electrical Engineering degree or commensurate experience.
  • Must have experience programming Siemens PLCs.
  • Minimum of five years of experience designing, installing and trouble-shooting PLC and motion control software and hardware in a variety of industries.
  • Prior work experience in repair / maintenance of capital equipment or electronics, such as servo drives, HMI’s and programmable controllers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with ladder logic as well as other machine control software and hardware.
  • Demonstrated advanced mechanical, electrical and software skills.
  • Ability to support various software control platforms for complete packaging lines.
  • Proficiency in operating Siemens controlled systems of automated equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel, from production to management.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office)
  • Strong oral and written skills with the ability to manage time and work independently
  • Must be able, and have clearance, to travel extensively in North America as well as to Europe when needed.


  • Prior work experience in design, development, programming, repair and maintenance of capital equipment is preferred.
  • Strong customer service focus with ability to assure customer confidence in the operation of equipment.
  • Either currently a passport holder or have the ability and willingness to secure a passport.
